The silly season is upon us and as we bolt towards the New Year it is nice to look back on what has featured in 2017 and what will most likely continue in 2018.
As Henry Ford once said “You can have any colour so long as it’s black”; 2017 was all over this saying. Black is back and I have no doubt this is a trend we will continue to see in 2018.
Stunning black on black statement kitchens; black teamed with the warmth of timber; black with brass for a touch of glamour; throw in a slab of marble for good measure and this my friends is 2017 served up on a plate.
Colour is back in vogue. White on White kitchens are still popular and most likely will continue to feature for years to come, but 2017 was certainly the year that we saw colour pop back into people’s moodboards.
Matte finishing’s were big in 2017; Suede benchtops and satin handles, but the hero of the Matte revolution was Matte cabinetry.
Acrymatte® Eclipse (Black) by Sage Doors was our product of the year, with every other customer opting for this stunning finish on their cabinetry.
Acrymatte® features a super smooth surface with advanced scratch resistance for higher durability. It’s luscious and luxurious and we look forward to spec’ing it again in the New Year.
Benchtops must’ve hit the gym in 2017 because they have slimmed up and are looking sleeker than ever.
It was out with the 30mm/40mm and in with 20mm thick benchtops. This clean, minimal look is very on trend and is especially popular with modern and contemporary kitchen styles.
Tiles have been by far the most popular choice for splashbacks in recent times and although still a go to for many, in 2017 we have seen other finishing’s giving tiles a run for their money.
Glass and mirrors are popular once more. A fresh release of exciting colours and textures plus Smokey Mirror and Bronzed Mirror provide a sleek, stylish options to consider.
And if our customer didn’t do glass in 2017, it’s likely that their splashback was a continuation of their stone top. I love this look, not only it is highly functional and easy to clean but it looks amazing.
Brendon built and installed our new kitchen, which we love. He consulted with us on the details before installation and found great outcomes for the handles, sink, and drainer grooves, He did an amazing job of incorporating some of our recycled rimu into our kitchen too. He ensured the kitchen was completed to our needs, and a very high standard. He has also provided some fantastic wardrobe designs and installed these, and listens to the customer needs and follows through with a great job.
I dealt with Brendon and his team from Contrast Interiors for a fairly extensive build after he was recommended to me through Trade connections. His contact was professional, prices fair, and the the result was outstanding. He built our kitchen as well and laundry, 2 bathrooms, and then had some other parts thrown in as well since the result was great.
A huge thank you to the team at Contrast Interiors for our beautiful kitchen. We are so delighted with the final result. It not only looks amazing but is highly functional and has been manufactured to a very high standard. Brendon, Monica and the team were fabulous to deal with. We would not hesitate to recommend Contrast Interiors
A note to say how very thrilled we are with our new kitchen. It is just what we had envisaged when we initially meet with you. Well designed, manufactured and finished. You and your team have all been so easy to deal with, very professional and not to mention delivered on time, amazing!
